Question: What makes Hirsch Glass products unique?

Answer: Traditionally, there are three ways to color glass; by coating one surface, through adding minerals and other pigments to molten glass during production, and by laminating two or more pieces of glass with a colored material sandwiched in between. Unlike the traditional glass tiles, the swirls and colors of our Stained Glass Tiles are through out the body of the glass. This brings the patterns in the glass to have a true 3-dimentional look.

Question: Can these Stained Glass Tiles be customer-designed?

Answer: Yes. Our proprietary technology and recently expanded manufacturing facility enables us to produce large size color glass sheets, resulting in a wide selection of unique colors and sizes. Beside the standard sizes and color blends, any colors and swirl patterns selection in the size and thickness you choose are offered according to your specification.

Question: How can these tiles be applied?

Answer: There are many applications glass tiles can be envisioned. These colorful glass tiles can be found on shower wall, tub surround, vanity top in bathrooms. You can also modernize a kitchen with a glass mosaic tile backsplash or countertop. Larger size stained glass tiles or panels can be utilized to decorate commercial spaces, such as room dividers, railings, moldings, doors, and architectural details at restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, spas, casinos etc.

Question: Can these tiles be used in place of ceramic or with ceramic tiles?

Answer: Yes, our stained glass tiles are sized to be compatible with standard ceramic tiles offering an exciting new alternative to ceramic tile. These colorful tiles can be used to blend with ceramic tiles to have some artistic effect or replace them to lighten up the whole space. Also, our glass tiles are packaged, handled, shipped and installed like any similar ceramic product. However we are not recommending the use of our stained glass tiles as floor tiles in heavy traffic areas unless special anti-slip treatment is applied.

Question: How are the tiles installed?

Answer: All our glass tiles are installed similar to ceramic tiles. In addition, the Stained Glass Tile Series can be assembled into panels, which are handled and installed more like a single piece of glass.

Question: How stable are the tiles?

Answer: Because these tiles are nonporous, that makes them resistant to liquids, vapors, chemicals, and stains. Metal oxides are used as coloring materials: therefore the color never fades or is discolored by exposure to harsh environments such as heat or UV light. They are also frost proof, non-flammable, and easy to clean.

 Question: How fragile the tiles?

Answer: Similar to ceramic tiles, these glass tiles are breakable when they are dropped or applied with heavy force. With regards to scratch resistance, glass is generally harder than marble but softer than granite.
